Hiroyuki Nishimura, 45, entrepreneur and founder of the online bulletin board “2channel,” updated his Twitter page on April 11.

He wrote, “Experiences of foreign women who married men in Tohoku. Reasons for “invisibility” and the words entrusted to them. He quoted from an article in Nippon Complex Travels reported as “Listening to the Voices of #Emigrant Women” and gave his personal opinion.

In the article quoted by Hiroyuki, there are many foreign women living in rural and coastal areas in the Tohoku region who married Japanese men through the intermediaries of the government and businesses against the background of so-called “marriage difficulties” and “bride shortage”.

The movement began around the 1980s, and the majority of the women are reportedly from China, Korea, and the Philippines.

Quoting the same article on Twitter, Hiroyuki said, “The problem of foreign wives in rural villages where there is a shortage of wives. Foreign women come to Japan to marry someone they have never met.

The conditions of marriage include sending money to the family home of the foreign woman.”

He then went on to point out, “It is wrong to allow this as a normal marriage in society, and it should be banned as slavery, similar to human trafficking.” He then went on to develop his own theory.

In fact, it is a widespread practice for local regions suffering from a shortage of wives to take wives from the poorest of the poor in foreign countries. Isn’t it an exaggeration to call this “human trafficking”?
