基本的な考え方
関係代名詞も関係副詞も文と文をつなぐことができます。
文は2文を一つにするばかりでなく、たくさんの文もつなぐことができます。
まず、2つの文を1つにしてみましょう。
関係代名詞
関係代名詞は、２つの文の中に、
①名詞と代名詞の共通語を見つけ出し、
②代名詞を消す。①の名詞（先行詞）の後に関係代名詞を入れる。
③消した代名詞が、主語なら主格の関係代名詞（who, which）、目的語なら目的格の関係代名詞(whom, which)、所有格なら所有格の関係代名詞(whose)を入れる。
1. He has a sister. She is studying design in Italy.
He has a sister who is studying design in Italy.
2. The family are very friendly. They live next door.
The family who live next door are very friendly.
3. Large cars are not popular. They use a lot of gasoline.
Large cars which use a lot of gasoline are not popular.
4. He is the man. You want to see him.
He is the man whom(that) you want to see.
5. The man is out of town today. You want to see him.
The man whom(that) you want to see is out of town today.
6. The computer has already broken down. I bought it last month.
The computer which(that) I bought last month has already broken down.
7. I have a friend. Her father works for that bank.
I have a friend whose father works for that bank.
8. Do you see the house? Its roof is blue.
Do you see the house whose roof is blue.
関係副詞
関係副詞は、名詞と副詞句の共通点をみつけ、副詞句を消す。
消える副詞句が時ならwhen, 場所ならwhere、理由ならwhy、方法ならhowの関係副詞を、名詞（先行詞）の後に置く。
関係副詞は４パターンのみ。
1. This is the hospital. My mother works as a nurse in it.
関係代名詞 This is the hospital which(that) my mother works as a nurse in.
関係副詞 This is the hospital where my mother works as a nurse.
2. This is the house. My grandfather lived for fifty years there
This is the house where my grandfather lived for fifty years.
3. Tell me the reason. That player is always in such good shape for the reason.
Tell me the reason why that player is always in such good shape.
4. I don’t like the way. He speaks in that way.
関係代名詞 I don’t like the way which he speaks in.
関係副詞 I don’t like the way he speakes.
(I don’t like how he speakes.)
※ the reason why 先行詞または関係副詞が省略されることもある。
the way how 必ず先行詞または関係副詞いずれかを省略すること。
関係代名詞でも関係副詞でも表される文が分かればマスターしたと言えるでしょう！
