Businessman Yusaku Maezawa, who will travel to the International Space Station (ISS) on the Russian spacecraft Soyuz, posted a picture of his rocket with the Japanese flag and the “MZ” logo on his Instagram on Wednesday.

The launch is at 4:38 p.m. on the 8th. Maezawa said, “We have completed the process of attaching a cover called the nose fairing to the Soyuz, which will ride on it. Both have the MZ mark on them!” and introduced the progress of the assembly.

The first private Japanese to go into space was Toyohiro Akiyama, then a reporter for TBS, in December 1990, when he stayed aboard the Soyuz at the Mir space station.

Mr. Maezawa’s post has been greeted with comments such as “It’s really finally here” and “I’m thrilled by the countdown”.
