Square Enix has announced a delay in the release of new information about Final Fantasy XVI, the latest title for PS5.
This is the first time we’ve had a chance to see the game in action, and we’re really looking forward to it. The new information will be released in spring 2022.
It’s a shame, but we’ll be releasing information around spring 2022,” he says, “and we’ll finally be ramping up for the launch. Keep an eye out for new information on the latest instalment in the epic series.
Delayed Information Release
Hello everyone, I’m Yoshida, producer of Final Fantasy XVI.
We had reported that the next information release would be …… in 2021, but it has become difficult to release information by the end of the year. We apologise for this situation. The reason for this is that we are dealing with a new coronavirus infection, which has delayed the development of the game by 5-6 months.
Final Fantasy XVI is the latest game in the series, is being produced on PlayStation 5, is a huge project, and is being developed with the help of developers around the world. In the same way that many of our internal staff have had to work from home as part of our response to the new coronavirus outbreak, we have also had to work in distributed development around the world, causing delays in instructions from the main development team, delays in the delivery of assets from overseas, and requests to cancel work.
We managed to end these delays by the end of 2021, and are now working on improving the quality of graphics resources, further refining the battle system/various battles, catching up on scenario cutscenes, and optimising graphics. From here on, our goal is to play through the game many times by ourselves and continue to refine it.
We’re still behind schedule, but we’ll be releasing new information in the spring of 2022, and we’ll be ramping up for the launch. We apologise to all of you who are looking forward to it, but we would appreciate it if you could give us a little more time to focus on development!
