The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that the number of new cases and deaths of the new coronavirus worldwide in one week has increased for the first time in two months.
WHO Director-General Tedros: “This shows that the pandemic is far from over”.
WHO Director-General Tedros said on Thursday that the number of new infections and deaths in the world in one week had risen for the first time in two months, mainly due to an increase in the number of people infected in Europe, including the United Kingdom.
The WHO also revealed that 62 countries are currently administering an additional one million doses of vaccine per day, while low-income countries are receiving only a third of that number per day.
The WHO is urging all countries to hold off on additional doses to ensure that at least 40% of the population is vaccinated by the end of the year.
We can’t be too sure!
